St. Patrick's Day!!

Okay so i have not been keeping up with blogging about our preschool, i promise we have been meeting, i just have been super busy with trying to teach this playgroup for 3-5 year olds that i have not had a lot of extra time. however, i really wanted to blog about what we did for st. patty's day because i thought landen did an excellent job, and i think it was lots of fun!! So we decided to not do a letter for st. patrick's day we just decided we would have a party. so we did calendar and then we did our craft which we decided would be a trap to try to catch the leperchauns, which the kids were really excited about! that pretty much took up the whole time and then we had a snack which was green pudding and a leperchaun cookie (one of those keebler elf fudge center cookies, do you know what i am talking about?) Afterwards we went the library for storytime and music.
Landen was so excited about trying to catch a leperchaun so after he went to bed i took the gold coins off of the top and left some rolos and sprinkled some green sprinkles around the trap, then left a note that said you can't catch me! landen thought it was pretty funny and said that the leprechaun we way tricky!! in the picture you can't see the sign but it reads: don't climb the ladder!

V is for VOLCANO!!!!!

Today was a fun day because we did v is for volcano and with two three year old boys things that explode are way cool!!! so we started with calendar and then they did their worksheets with the letter v, and they did a great job. V must be an easy letter to write. and then they did their name worksheets, then the fun began!! so we decided that we were going to make our own playdough, at it was a pretty easy recipe so if anyone needs to make playdough here is a good one: Uncooked Playdough Materials Bowl 1 cup cold water 1 cup salt 2 teaspoons vegetable oil Tempera paint or food coloring 3 cups flour 2 tablespoons cornstarch Directions In bowl, mix water, salt, oil, and enough tempera paint or food coloring to make a bright color. Gradually add flour and cornstarch until the mixture reaches the consistency of bread dough. Store covered. Then we put the playdough around a toilet paper roll and filled the middle with baking soda, pour in the vinegar and watch!

Long time since i have written, but a lot has been going on. For a couple of weeks we did a review to refresh on the letters that we already learned. Then we picked up with the letter G, which worked out really well since it was right before christmas, so we made gingerbread houses and the calendar.

We read thanksgiving books, and sang songs about turkeys and indians, and then we did an indian craft, we used a toilet paper roll, paper, feathers, and markers, i thought mine was cute! i would have taken a picture of Landen's if he hadn't decided to throw it away! Well I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!!

E is for elephant

Today we did the letter E and did a lot with elephants. we did music and movement where they sang elephant songs and made elephant movements. They also made elephant paper bags for their craft, which i couldn't seem to get Landen's to scan so here is a picture of the example from the website. They cut out the elephant and glued it to a lunch size paper bag so they could move the elephant's mouth. Today i was in charge of games and so we played a game where i took the letters in their names and cut them out individually so they would have to spell their name out and learn that only the first letter in their name is a capitol letter. Then we did the old egg and spoon race, ending with making playdough elephants. Review and good-bye! the end of the day!

Halloween Party

So for friday, since it was halloween, we decided to just do some fun stuff instead of actual school. we did start with calendar just so the kids would realize we were still doing preschool and then we made masquerade mask, where the kids glued feathers and yarn and colored their masks. Then they got to decorate (and eat!) ghost cookies, which mostly ended up in my carpet, oh my!! Then for the big activity! We painted the pumpkins that we went and picked up the week before! We also stuff little halloween bags to give out at trunks of treat then we put on music and let the kids dance around and have a costume parade!!!

I was in charge of calendar so I read three books: Little Monsters, Halloween has Boo, and 10 Little Monsters, the kids really loved them! Then we did worksheets and music time. For music time we did a song called Tutti-Ta! and it was really funny, the kids looked really cute doing it. Then we made ghost for the craft and i hung Landen's outside with all of the other Halloween decor!

P is for Pumpkins and painting

Okay so friday I had a cold and so we only did part of preschool together, and did the worksheets seperately so no one would have to come in my house and get sick!!! So we did the letter P and decided it would be a good time to take a field trip to the pumpkin patch and then we did a paint project outside. Here are the pictures, but i am highly disappointed because the last time i went to the pumpkin patch my friend megan took the pictures and they were amazing, these...well they get the job done i guess. PS funny story about the pumpkin patch, they had a little turkey thing running around free and landen decided it would be fun to chase it around, until it decided to turn and charge at him!!!

A is for Apple!

Two of my friends and I have been doing a mommy and me preschool for a couple of months now and i am just now getting around to blogging about it. So instead of going back and reliving all of the letters that we have covered, i am just going to pick up with today and try to update it on Tuesdays and Fridays, which are the days that we meet. As a general run down of what we try to do each time, here is a schedule that we loosely go by:
Calendar Time (Days of the week, Months of the year, and intro to the letter of the day)
Worksheets (Letter of the Day, and their Names)
Music and Movement
Game
Craft
Review (Calendar and Letter)
So today's letter was A, so we did A is for Apples! There are so many things that you can do with apples!! The games today was bobbing for apples and for the craft we did caramel apples, yummy!! Here are some pictures documenting our work!!
Okay so i have no idea why joe-joe's head is half cut off, but i have a friend that is teaching me how to do some stuff with my blog so i will see if she can help me fix that.
